DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Reports to: Riverside Church Executive Team

Job Summary: The Director of Community Engagement (DCE) oversees the outreach efforts of Riverside Church, especially focused on the City of North Lauderdale and immediate surrounding areas. This includes overseeing the planning and executing all programming and operations related to The Bridge as the primary development ministry for impacting the community. The DCE will oversee The Bridge communication strategy and implemention and also oversee the outreach facility (4,600 square foot facility designed to support community engagement). Additional responsibilities include strategic planning related to the community, fundraising, marketing, and communications.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the planning and implementation, as well as drive effective execution of the Bridge Programs:
    – Thriving Thursdays, a series of youth development workshops
    – THRIVE, Teen Mentoring Program
    – Parent Academy/College Prep events
  • Oversee The Bridge communication strategy and implementation
  • Work in partnership with Executive Team and Elders to ensure that mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach
  • Develop partnerships with local churches, ministry patrons, and community stakeholders
  • Provide regular updates, communicating progress and results to church leadership
  • Recruit and equip volunteers
  • Oversee community engagement staff
  • Mobilize the Riverside Congregation for mission and outreach activities
  • Oversee Alpha and/or other evangelism tools
  • Work with Riverside’s various ministry partners and foster collaboration
  • Participate in networking, special events, group presentations
  • Develop fundraising strategies
  • Oversee outreach facility
  • Oversee outreach facility staff
  • Perform other duties to support the mission of Riverside Church

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two to four years experience with community engagement, outreach, personal or professional development programs, or other related experience
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate the mission to donors, volunteers, and the larger community
  • Experience planning, coordinating, or executing events, fundraisers, or workshops
  • Prior experience connecting with and engaging community member and organizations
  • Self-starter, builder, and detailed oriented, possessing excellent follow up, time management, and organizational skills
  • Must be committed to Riverside Church and live by Biblical principles as evidenced by testimony, accountability, and attitude

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior Program or Project Management experience
  • Mentoring Experience
  • Bilingual in either (English/Spanish) OR (English/Creole)
