Genesis 37

By February 4, 2015No Comments

In the following article you will find a brief commentary on Genesis 37 that goes along with our Riverside Church Two Year Bible Reading Plan (Volume 1 & Volume 2).  This plan will allow you to read the New Testament and Psalms once every year and the Old Testament once every two years.

Genesis 37

Joseph

Genesis 37-50 tells of the life of Joseph; it is simply one of the greatest stories in the entire bible.   He has a special role as a deliverer of God’s people.  His life teaches us that God is in complete control and that he uses everything to fulfill his purpose.  This is summed up at the end of Joseph’s story as he speaks to his brothers who had betrayed him.

“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good…”  Genesis 50:20 (ESV)

This first chapter, chapter 37, illustrates that good often begins with great trial, rejection and disappointment.
